Submissions

Submission Guidelines

Nigerian Journal of Applied Science and Innovative Technology (NiJASIT) is a publication of the College of Engineering, Bells University of Technology, Ota, Nigeria. It is an international peer-reviewed journal that publishes three issues in a year (February, June and October). The Journal publishes papers with original contributions to scientific knowledge in all fields of natural, life, built environment, applied sciences and engineering. Authors submitting papers for publication must adhere strictly to the following guidelines:

  1. Research articles should be in the English language. Articles in other languages are NOT entertained. Correction of English language is not the responsibility of the Editorial Board of NiJASIT. Author(s) not fluent in English are required to get their manuscripts checked by an English speaking colleague or professional editors.
      1. Submission(s) to NiJASIT should be submitted electronically as MS word attachment to The Editor-in-Chief; Nijasit@bellsuniversity.edu.ng, osfayomi@bellsuniversity.edu.ng and ensure submission(s) have less than 15% similarity plagiarism result.
          1. Articles should be in 12-inch font size, Times New Roman, single-spaced and single column with the normal A4 size margins. A 12-inch font size space should be between sections and there should no space between subsections.
              1. The cover page should contain the title of the paper, author(s) name(s), and complete addresses including institution based e-mail. The corresponding author must also be specified clearly.
                  1. The article must contain an abstract of not more than 500 words and should be followed immediately by five keywords. Total number of words should not exceed 8000 words.
                      1. Articles submitted for publication must be original and should not be under consideration for publication elsewhere. The content should include (but not restricted to):
                        1. Introduction
                        2. Materials and Methods
                        3. Results and Discussion
                        4. Conclusion
                        5. References
                        1. Articles are accepted on the understanding that they have not been published elsewhere, and will not be, without the Editor-in-Chief’s written consent.
                            1. The copyright of articles accepted for publication belongs to NiJASIT.
                                1. All photos, drawings, diagrams, illustrations and other images in the manuscripts should also be submitted in digital format, preferably as JPEG or GIF files.
                                    1. All references must adhere strictly to the APA 7th edition referencing style. Citations must be given in APA style in the text e.g. (Fayomi et al., 2017; Alao, 2008), or Abiola et al., (2016) or according to Ajibola (1988) and Adebajo and Akinyemi (2018). If two or more works by different authors or authoring bodies are cited at one point in the text, use a semi-colon to separate them: (Babarinde 2006; Ajbowu 2009). Others are:
                                      1. The total number of references should not exceed 40 and references should not be numbered.
                                      2. Names of the periodicals should be given in full.
                                      3. Page numbers should be mentioned in the references.
                                      4. An alphabetical list of all literature cited in the text should follow the text, headed by References, and single space in Times New Roman font size 12 following the format below:

                                      2. Bibliography (Book) — Format: Author(s). (Year). Title of the book (Edition). Publisher. Brown, P. L., & Green, S. D. (2019). Research methods in psychology (4th Ed.). Oxford University Press.
                                      3. Book Chapter — Format: Author(s) of the chapter. (Year). Title of the chapter. In Editor(s) (Ed(s).), Title of the book (pp. xx–xx). Publisher. Johnson, K. L. (2018). Learning strategies in adults. In P. R. White & C. B. Black (Eds.), Cognitive development in adulthood (pp. 125–145). Cambridge University Press.
                                      4. Conference Proceedings — Format: Author(s). (Year). Title of the paper. In Editor(s) (Ed(s).), Proceedings of the Conference (pp. xx–xx). Publisher. Lee, M. S., & Gupta, R. (2021). Innovations in AI for healthcare. In T. Nguyen & K. Chang (Eds.), Proceedings of the International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare (pp. 234–245). Springer.
                                      5. Website — Format: Author(s). (Year, Month Day). Title of the webpage. Site Name. URL Thompson, G. (2022, March 5). How to manage stress in the workplace. Health and Wellbeing Today. https://www.healthtoday.com/stress-management
                                    2. Article processing charge (APC) is free.
                                        1. The publication of articles shall be quarterly namely March, June, September and December of every year.

                                                PUBLICATION ETHICS AND MALPRACTICE STATEMENT

                                                The Nigeria Journal of Applied Science and Innovative Technology (NIJASIT) adheres to ethical guidelines for its publications to guarantee exceptional quality and public confidence in scientific discoveries that credit authors for their original ideas.

                                                SUBMISSION DECLARATION

                                                Nigeria Journal of Applied Science and Innovative Technology (NIJASIT) imply the following when authors submit an article:

                                                1. Except as a preprint, abstract, published lecture, academic thesis, or registered report, the work described has never been published before.
                                                2. Falsification and fabrication of data used in journal submissions are unacceptable to NIJASIT. Any published articles that are later found to have committed this offence will be withdrawn, and our viewers will be informed of the fact right away.
                                                3. Anti-plagiarism software is used by NIJASIT to find submissions that match preexisting materials. At that level, any submission with a similarity index higher than 15% will be disqualified.
                                                4. There are no other publications considering the article for publication.
                                                5. All authors have given their approval for the article to be published, and the relevant authorities where the work was done have given their authorisation either expressly or implicitly.
                                                6. If accepted, the article won’t be published anywhere else in the same format, in English or any other language, even electronically, without the copyright holder’s prior approval.

                                                AUTHORSHIP

                                                Each author must have significantly contributed to each of the following:

                                                1. The study’s idea and design, data collection, analysis, and interpretation, or both.
                                                2. Drafting or critically editing the article to ensure it has significant intellectual content.
                                                3. The version to be submitted has received final approval.

                                                CHANGES TO AUTHORSHIP

                                                This journal’s editors will generally not consider changes in authorship after a manuscript has been submitted. It is critical that authors carefully analyse the authorship list and order of authors, and offer a definite author list at the original submission.

                                                DECLARATION OF INTERESTS

                                                All authors are required to reveal any personal or financial ties to other individuals or groups that might unjustly affect or skew their work. The following are a few instances of possible conflicting interests: employment, consulting, paid expert testimony, stock ownership, honoraria, grants or other funding, patent applications or registrations.
